Darlene Shoemaker, 64, of New Albany died as a result of a farming accident, state police said Thursday.

Shoemaker had fallen from her farming tractor on Wednesday while raking hay, state police said in a press release.

The accident occurred on her property in Overton Township, said Bradford County Coroner Thomas Carman.

“She came (fell) off the tractor for an unknown reason, and, in the process of that, she ultimately died of blunt force trauma to (her) extremities,” said Bradford County Coroner Tom Carman.

The accident occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 10:10 p.m., state police from Towanda said.

“She was discovered by her husband” at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Carman said.

Carman said he pronounced Shoemaker dead at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Carman declined to provide more specific details on how she died, out of respect for Shoemaker’s family.
