TOWANDA - Voter turnout was low on Election Day Tuesday in Bradford County, with 23.18 percent of the registered voters going to the polls.
According to unofficial results provided by the Bradford County Board of Elections, of the county's 40,344 registered voters, only 9,351 exercised their right to vote.
These results are typical because it's an off-election year, according to Marie Zbyszinski, director of the Bradford County Board of Elections.

TOWANDA - As a result of Tuesday's election, the Towanda Borough Council will have two new members: Shannon Clark and Rex Klinger.
Klinger and incumbent William Kovalcin Jr. won the two Second Ward seats on the council that were up for election. The loser in the three-way race for the Second Ward council seats was longtime council member Rick Lewis.
Clark, who is a real estate agent and a registered Republican, outpolled incumbent Ellen Lacek to win a Third Ward seat on the Towanda Borough Council. Lacek had run a write-in campaign for the Nov. 3 election.

Based on the results of Tuesday's election, there will not be enough members on the Sullivan County School Board to overturn the board's recent decision to close the Turnpike Elementary School.
The winners of the four Sullivan County School Board seats in Tuesday's election were Nancy Craft, Kimberly Phillips, James Lambert and Timothy Nitcznski.
The losers in the race for the Sullivan County School Board seats were Charles Amer and write-in candidates Millie Dessify and Edward Bialer.

Republican John G. Vineski said he was "letting it soak in" Tuesday night after he learned that unofficial election results showed him elected the next mayor of Canton.
He and Democrat Janette Walters were vying for the Canton Borough mayor seat.
"I'm glad that I was given the chance to serve Canton Borough as mayor for four years, and I'm going to do my best to make Canton a better place to live," he said.
