TOWANDA — The public is invited to a celebration on Saturday, Oct. 11, of Henry Dunn Inc.’s 75th anniversary, which will take place at the Towanda Fire Station, located at the intersection of Plank Road and North Fourth Street in Towanda.

The event, which will begin at 11 a.m., will include a chicken barbecue and give-a-ways for children and adults, including coloring books and crayons, balloons, ice-scrapers and keychains, said Bryant Dunn, a producer for Henry Dunn Inc.

Those attending the event will get free raffle tickets for movie tickets and three $50 Dandy Mini-Mart gift cards. The event is expected to continue until about 1 p.m.

Henry Dunn Inc. donated the 250 chicken halves that will be sold at the event, as well as other cooking supplies that will be used in the barbecue, Dunn said.

All of the proceeds from the chicken barbecue will be donated to the Towanda Fire Company, he said.

"We wanted to do it (this celebration) on a weekend where we could get the fire department involved, because they do so much for the community," Dunn said.

At the event, there will be a character in costume, but it is not known yet who it will be, he said.

In conjunction with this event, Mayor Richard Snell on Thursday issued a proclamation making Saturday, Oct. 11, Henry Dunn Inc. Day in Towanda.

Snell said he issued the proclamation because the company has contributed so much to the community.

For example, Henry C. Dunn Sr,, who is the CEO and president of Henry Dunn Inc., is a founding director of the Central Bradford Progress Authority. He is also treasurer and finance chairman of Martha Lloyd Community Services and the Bradford County Regional Arts Council, board secretary and an executive committee member of Northern Tier Counseling, a board member of Five Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts, and a Guthrie Healthcare trustee.

He has also volunteered to help other community organizations.

"We encourage our employees to get involved in the community and give back," Henry D. Dunn Sr., has said. Paul Kreischer, a vice-president at Henry Dunn Inc., is founding member of the Central Bradford Progress Authority and currently serves as its president. Paul Sweitzer, an insurance producer and real estate broker at Henry Dunn Inc., volunteers as a Towanda Borough councilman and is a member of the Towanda Municipal Authority and the Central Bradford Progress Authority.

"We are very excited to have a day that recognizes our insurance and real estate companies," Henry Dunn Inc. said in a press release.

The gift cards were donated by Randy Williams, owner of the Dandy Mini-Mart chain. The movie tickets were donated by the Bradford County Regional Arts Council.
