TOWANDA - The Green Dragons of Lewisburg took the hour-and-a half trek north into Towanda's Endless Mountains Athletic Complex Friday night for the AA District IV semifinal. Lewisburg coach Todd Pilford knew they were going to have to come out a blaze of fire in the intimidating EMAC. The Dragons did just that overcoming the Black Knights late rally to advance to Lewisburg's first ever district championship, 19-14. The two medieval icons hammered on each other throughout until the Green Dragons blew out Towanda's final hope when freshman linebacker Brandon Smith hauled down quarterback Dakota Roof on the Knights last fourth down hope for the 13-yard sack inside Lewisburg territory.

ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior Ryan Wittman scored 24 points, while Chris Wroblewski added 22, but it wasn't enough as the Big Red men's basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 89-79, this evening at Newman Arena. The loss is the first on the year for Cornell (2-1), while the Pirates improve to 3-0 on the year.
Wroblewski connected on 5-of-10 shots and was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line, while adding five rebounds and five assists. Adam Wire shot 5-for-5 from the floor and added 1-of-2 free throws as the only other Big Red player in double-figures with 11 points. Jeff Foote led the team with 10 rebounds and added three blocks to bolster the defense.

All season long Towanda coach Craig Dawsey has preached the same thing before each game.
'We have to take care of the little things,' he says, it sounds simple enough and for 11 weeks it never caused a problem for the Black Knights.
Towanda played 11 games going into Friday and all 11 times they took care of the little things well enough to end the night with a victory.
Sure, there were turnovers and penalties, missed blocks and dropped passes, every team has them during a season, but in the end every week Towanda took care of those things well enough to win the games.

Q: Greg, I am currently stationed in Jacksonville, N.C. with the Marines and just received your article in the Times of Wayne County (New York) newspaper. While reading your Car Collector Corner on the 1964 Fairlane station wagon, I noticed a couple of things. When you said rare, did you mean by station wagon standards?
I have a 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 2-door post that they made less than 9,000. Who knows how many of these are left, especially since the (race only) Fairlane Thunderbolts became popular in 1964. I'm sure it was cheaper back then to buy the previous model year car to replicate one. They only made 127 of the 427 Thunderbolts using the 2-door post body style of 1964.

TIOGA, N.Y. - The Tioga girls' volleyball team sees the kind of respect and recognition the football and wrestling teams get at school.
They hear students and teachers talking about going to watch the game that week, and they wonder.
They wonder if someday everyone will be talking about the volleyball matches. They wonder if the game everyone will be going to will be theirs. They wonder if one day they will draw the crowds and earn the attention that some of those other teams earn.

For the Towanda Black Knights, this is nothing new.
The Black Knights football team has had three unbeaten regular seasons in the past five years and the last two undefeated years ended in the district final.
A number of the regulars on this year's Towanda team were part of the squad that went to the district final two years ago, so they know what it takes to win games like today's district semifinals against Lewisburg.
