Pedestrian in Wyalusing struck by vehicle

Brook Reese, 22, of Wyalusing was listed in fair condition at a local hospital Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle on Monday.

Raymond White, 47, of Towanda was driving west on U.S. Route 6 in Wyalusing when, according to witnesses, Reese ran out in the path of White’s vehicle, police said.

White’s 2004 Chevrolet 3500 truck struck Reese, state police said.


Reese was taken by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition Wednesday night, authorities said.

The accident occurred at 5:09 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Route 6 and John Street, according to the state police from Towanda.

Man waives charges

Shawn Patrick Callahan, 35, of 305 Canton St., Troy, has waived his charges following a preliminary hearing, according to Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox’s office in Troy.

Callahan was charged with: driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance; driving outside a laned roadway and nearly colliding with an oncoming and marked state police car; careless driving; and failing to wear a seat belt while driving in connection with a reported incident around 10:50 p.m. July 12 on Route 14 in Canton Borough, according to court papers. Callahan’s blood-alcohol concentration was 0.192 percent, the papers note.

Charges waived

Daniel J. May, 25, of RR1, Box 161A, Granville Summit, has waived his charges following a preliminary hearing, according to Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox’s office in Troy.

May was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance – general impairment, and having a left front lamp on his vehicle broken, according to court papers. He refused chemical testing, the papers note.

Gillett man waives hearing

Michael David Henry, 31, of 3128 Bucks Creek Rd., Gillett, waived his preliminary hearing on driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, according to Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox’s office in Troy.

Henry was also charged for operating a vehicle without official certificate of inspection and failing to drive entirely within a single lane and/or moving from the lane without first ascertaining that the movement could be made with safety, according to court papers. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.214 percent, the papers note.

Hearing continued

A preliminary hearing for Alicia Marie Anderson, 22, of 150 Rosalyn Ct., Apt. 302, Sayre, has been continued to Nov. 25, according to Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox’s office in Troy.

Anderson is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, careless driving, and driving a vehicle within 500 feet of another oncoming vehicle without using low beams in connection with a reported incident at 11:20 p.m. July 26 on Route 14 in Troy Township, according to court papers. Her blood-alcohol concentration was 0.068 percent, the papers note.

No injuries reported

No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle accident at 8:21 p.m. Nov. 8 on Route 187 in Wilmot Township, said state police at Towanda.

Police said Scott B. Kingston, 29, of Wyalusing, was driving south when his Ford Mustang left the road and became hung up over a ditch. The vehicle had minor damage.

The Wyalusing Fire Company assisted. Police said charges are pending.

Harassment reported

State police at Towanda said Lenora Givens, no age given, of Troy, received harassing text messages sometime between 3:01 a.m. and 8:28 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Dandy Mini Mart at the intersection of routes 6 and 14 in Troy.

Criminal mischief reported

State police at Towanda said someone damaged a sign belonging to Alice Bankhart Moyer, 69, of Ulster, sometime between 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. Nov. 5 on state Route 4014 in Smithfield Township. Police said an investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact state police at (570) 265-2186.

Paint balls shot

State police at Laporte said someone shot paint balls at a garage located on the property of Calvin Beinlich, 80, of Forksville, sometime between 5 p.m. Oct. 26 and 7 a.m. Oct. 27 on state Route 154 in Estella, Elkland Township, Sullivan County. The property wasn’t damaged, police said.

Person injured

One person was injured in a crash at 5:54 p.m. Oct. 18 on Fallbrook Road in Troy Township, state police at Towanda said.

Police said Victoria L. Scholato, 43, of Troy, was driving north on the road and failed to negotiate a left downhill curve when her motor scooter tipped on the pavement. It skidded into a wire guide rail before coming to rest along the road.

Scholato had a major injury and was flown to Robert Packer Hospital.

Crash reported

State police at Towanda said a 16-year-old Granville Summit male wasn’t injured in a crash at 3:59 p.m. Oct. 28 on Route 6 in Troy.

Police said the driver was trying to turn west on Route 6 from the parking lot of the Dandy Mini-Mart and failed to yield to traffic. He entered the road into the path of another vehicle, which was traveling west on Route 6, and it struck the driver’s side of the 16-year-old’s 1990 Ford Bronco II with its passenger side front. The 16-year-old’s vehicle then came to rest facing southwest on Route 6. The other vehicle came to rest on Fireman’s Lane just west of the scene.

Liquor citations issued

Citations for liquor law violations for providing service to minors have been issued for two reported incidents on Sept. 17 in western Bradford County, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

Police said the incidents took place at the Warrior Lounge at 39 Troy St. in Canton and the Granville Tavern, Inc. at RD1 Box 108 in Granville Summit, Granville Township. Police said the charges were to be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses.
