Towanda wrestlers to host Williams Companies Duals

The Towanda Black Knights will host the Williams Companies Dual Meet Tournament beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
There will be five rounds on four mats with the semifinals scheduled to start at 4 p.m. and the finals expected to begin at 5:30 p.m.
The first-round matchups have South Williamsport taking on Towanda and Montoursville meeting Honesdale, while Port Alleghany takes on Jim Thorpe and Pine Grove meets West Scranton.
In round two Pine Grove takes on Towanda and Jim Thorpe meets Montoursville, while Honesdale takes on Port Alleghany and South takes on West Scranton.
In round three West Scranton will meet Towanda, while South Williamsport takes on Pine Grove. Port Alleghany meets Montoursville and Honesdale takes on Jim Thorpe.
Towanda, 9-1 on the year, is the defending tournament champion. The Black Knights feature Darin Rockwell (189 pounds). The senior is 14-0 and was fourth at regionals last year. The team also features Jesse Chesla (215). The senior is 13-1 and was fourth at districts last year. Junior Travis Chesla (285) is 4-1 and was second at sectionals last year, and sophomore Cody Wheeler (103) was third at sectionals last year.
The Montoursville Warriors are 2-0 on the year and are out of the Heartland Conference in District 4. Montoursville features sophomore Luke Fry (119), who is 15-0 and was a state champion last year, along with junior Nick Dawson (215), who is 13-2 and was third at districts last year. Sophomore Eli Rusczyk (152) is 10-5 and was fourth at regionals last year, and senior Sam Shaheen (189) is 11-5 on the year. The Port Alleghany Gators were the District 9, Class AA runners-up last year. They feature senior Dylan Major (215), a regional champion; sophomore Ryan Kio (112), a district fourth-place finisher; and sophomore Chester Tanner (130), a district fourth-place finisher.
The West Scranton Invaders are out of District 2, Class AAA and the Lackawanna League, and they feature junior Cory Hendry (145), a district champ; junior Sean Jakes (112), a district third-place finisher; and junior Elliott Zackoski (125), a district fourth-place finisher.
The Jim Thorpe Olympians are out of the Schuylkill League in District 11, Class AA, and they feature junior Dillon Smith (140), 14-2 and a district third-place finisher; senior Anthony Mistretta (135), 12-5; and sophomore Jon Fritz (145), 8-5 on the year.
The Honesdale Hornets are out of the Lackawanna League and District 2, Class AAA, and they feature senior Jake Arnone (160), 2-1 on the year; senior Pete Mesko (171), 11-3 and second at districts; senior Luis Rivero (189), 12-5 third at districts; and sophomore Ryan Smith (119), 9-5 and fourth at districts.
The Pine Grove Cardinals are out of District 11, Class AA, and they feature senior Chad Rainer (103), 8-6, third at districts; and junior Alan Daubert (140), 12-2 and sixth at districts; along with seniors Trant Donofrio (130), 11-6 on the year, and Chip Lengle (171), 12-4 on the season.
The South Williamsport Mountaineers are out of the Heartland Conference in District 4 and their key wrestlers include senior Chris Gephart (140), fifth at districts; and juniors Anthony Caschera (112), fifth at districts; D.J. Ashton (130); and Jeff Mach (285).
