6,000 attend Sayre Christmas Parade

SAYRE - A conservative estimate is that 6,000 people watched the 2009 Sayre Christmas Parade Friday evening in the borough's downtown, the Sayre Borough manager said.

It was the biggest crowd that has attended the annual parade since it was first held in 1999, said Sayre Borough Manager David Jarrett, who also serves as the parade coordinator.

While there was rain and sleet earlier on Friday in Bradford County, the weather had improved by the time the parade started. The only precipitation that fell during the parade was candy tossed out by people in fire trucks and on floats.
