Couple arrested for drugs, child endangerment

Two people were arrested March 16 for misdemeanor endangering the welfare of children and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Sayre police, officers responded just before 11 p.m. to 116 N. Higgins Ave. for a report of a domestic incident.

Police described the home as trashed and uninhabitable, with moldy food throughout, broken glass in the living room and opened suppositories that had been crushed into the carpet. Police said both suspects — 27-year-old Jesse Paul Johnson and 25-year-old Abby Marie Boss — appeared under the influence.

Police found three glass “crack pipes” in the kitchen — one with burned residue inside — and hypodermic needles on a bedroom dresser. Police noted that the needles were within the reach of a toddler boy who lived in the home.

Children and Youth Services assisted at the scene.

Johnson and Boss were arraigned March 17 before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox and sent to Bradford County Jail on $40,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 28.
