Sayre woman charged with fraud

Sayre Borough Police have charged Maria J. Roberts, 38, of Sayre with a felony count of fraud and a misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking following an incident that occurred at 12:58 p.m. on May 16 at Guthrie Federal Credit Union in Sayre Borough.

According to police, Roberts removed $150 from the victim’s account without permission. She also filled out a withdrawal slip and signed the victim’s name.

Roberts was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw and was released on a non-monetary bail. She is slated to appear before Shaw on June 13 for her preliminary hearing, court documents show.
