MU's Sterner named All-ECAC

Mansfield University’s Rachael Sterner was named to 1st Team All-ECAC Division II Softball honors at first base with Koryn Wickwire, a Towanda graduate, and Alli McGovern being named All-ECAC Honorable Mention.

Established in 1938, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is the largest and the only multi-divisional conference in the nation. Twenty-six universities from 11 different states comprise the ECAC’s Division II membership.

Sterner ranked second in the PSAC in on base pct. this season at .487 and third in slugging pct. at .680. The junior posted a .392 batting average with 38 hits including 10 doubles and six home runs. Sterner totaled 27 RBI and 22 runs scored. She ranked third in the conference in walks drawn with 19.

Wickwire batted .387 in 2017 with 10 doubles, a triple and a home run. The utility player scored 19 runs and drove in 17. Wickwire recorded a .548 slugging pct. and a .434 on base pct. She is a 1st Team NFCA and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region selection.

McGovern, the 2017 PSAC Central Freshman of the Year, led the Mountaineers with a .398 batting average with 39 hits including five doubles and two triples. She was second on the team in on base pct. at .459 and posted a perfect 1.000 fielding pct. in centerfield.
