Walmart thief found in possession of meth

Athens Township Police have charged Culleen Merrick Brassfield, 24, of Towanda with corruption of minors, intentional possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident that occurred at 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 3 at Walmart on Elmira Street in Athens Township.

Police state that Brassfield and a 17-year-old juvenile were observed concealing several items into their purses and then passed all points of sale attempting to leave the store. They were then stopped by a Walmart asset protection associate. Brassfield was then taken into custody by police. During a search of her belongings, she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and several small glassine baggies which appeared to have an amount of white residue in them.

Brassfield is slated to appear before Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw on Oct. 10 for her preliminary hearing, court documents show.
