Waverly man accused of stealing dog
Earl B. Lunn, 39, of Pine Street, Waverly, N.Y., was arrested at 1 p.m. on Aug. 21 for misdemeanor petit larceny, according to Waverly police.
Lunn is accused of stealing a neighbor's dog on Aug. 17, police said. Lunn then allegedly "gave" the dog away to another person to "take care" of it, police said. He was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 in Village of Waverly Justice Court, police said.
The dog has been returned to its rightful owner without harm, police said.
Disorderly conduct in Waverly
Dallas R. Maslinski, 19, of Straw Hill Road, Barton, N.Y., was arrested for one count of disorderly conduct following a disturbance at and near 22 Lincoln Street, Waverly N.Y., according to Waverly police.
Police said they responded to a report of a disturbance between a male and female at 4:38 a.m. on Aug. 19 at 22 Lincoln Street.
Police located Maslinski and arrested her without incident that morning, police said, and a male that was involved ran from the location of the disturbance.
Maslinski is accused of fighting and acting disorderly in public at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Lincoln Street in Waverly N.Y., police said.
She was released to family that morning after being issued an appearance ticket to appear at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 in Village of Waverly Justice Court to answer the charges, police said.
Police said that criminal charges have been filed against the male subject at this time, but he has not been located and arrested as of this date.
Teen charged with possession of marijuana
A 16-year-old Waverly male was arrested by the Athens Township Police Department on Aug. 3 on Elmira Street in Athens Township for possession of marijuana, according to Athens Township police.
The juvenile has been charged through the Bradford County Probation Department and well answer the charges in Bradford County Juvenile Court at a later date, police said.
Athens man arrested on bench warrant
Edward S. Johnson, 38, of Wolcott Hollow Road, Athens, was arrested on Aug. 19 near the Dandy Mini Mart in Greens Landing on a bench warrant, according to Athens Township police. The warrant was for failure to appear for a DUI charge from the Bradford County Sheriff's Department, police said.
Johnson was taken to Bradford County jail on the warrant, police said, and Johnson is also facing DUI charges as a result of this incident.
Waverly man charged with DUI
Matthew Ryan Malorzo, 22, of Waverly, N.Y., faces charges of driving while under the influence and careless driving in connection with an incident which occurred at around 1:15 a.m. on July 17 on Spruce Street in Athens Borough, according to court documents filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.
According to an affidavit:
Police observed a white Chevy Cobalt stop on Elmira Street in Athens Borough and drop off an unknown female passenger. Police then followed the vehicle as it traveled north on South Main Street and observed the vehicle weaving from left to right between the double yellow lines and the white fog line. The vehicle nearly struck the concrete curb on South Main Street on two occasions, police said.
The vehicle then pulled into a driveway, nearly striking a concrete barrier, police said.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Malorzo, police said, and police observed a strong alcoholic odor emitting from his person.
After allegedly failing field sobriety testing, Malorzo was taken into custody and consented to a chemical test of blood. Malorzo's blood alcohol content was found to be .18 percent, police said.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 11 a.m. on Sept. 22 for Malorzo to answer the charges.
Retail theft in Athens Twp.
Brianna Fassett, 18, of Waverly, faces charges of retail theft in connection with an incident which occurred at around 11 p.m. on Aug. 21 in Athens Twp., according to court documents filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.
Fassett is accused of taking numerous items from Wal-mart in Athens Township with a total value of $590.96, the documents stated, including a television, a DVD player, a dog collar, and a greeting card. Fassett was allegedly observed placing the television and DVD player in a shopping cart, the documents stated, and then proceeded to the garden center and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 for Fassett to answer the charges.
Theft in Athens Twp.
Daniel John O'Donnell, 26, of Sayre, faces charges of receiving stolen property and theft in connection with an incident which occurred at around 12:50 p.m. on June 26, according to court documents filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.
O'Donnell is accused of taking a Nextel Cellular phone valued at $250, a Garmin Nuvi GPS system valued at $500 and a Verizon/Casio Gzone Boulder Cellular phone valued at $250 from a car parked in the Walmart parking lot on June 26, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 1 for O'Donnell to answer the charges.
DUI in Sayre
David L. Rose, 46, of Waverly, N.Y., faces multiple charges including DUI and traffic violations in connection with an incident occurring at around 8:37 p.m. on Aug. 10, according to court documents filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.
According to an affidavit:
Police said they were dispatched at around 8:27 p.m. to the Dandy Mini Mart on N. Lehigh Ave. for a report of an intoxicated male driver in a green pickup truck. Police caught up to the vehicle on Cayuta Street and observed the vehicle driving in the wrong lane cross the center of the roadway several times.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Rose. Police observed that Rose had bloodshot and glassy eyes and slurred speech, and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person.
Rose was requested to submit to field sobriety tests and placed under arrest. A chemical test of blood showed Rose's blood alcohol content to be .21 percent.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 22 for Rose to answer the charges.
Theft in Athens Twp.
Raymond Robert Stanton, 52, of Waverly, N.Y., faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property in connection with an incident which occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 at Simonds and Sons in Athens Twp., according to court documents filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Shaw's office.
According to an affidavit:
Stanton is accused of taking a memory stick and a Logitech mouse belonging to an employee of Simonds and Sons, valued at $50.
A preliminary hearing has been set for 11:15 a.m. on Sept. 22 for Stanton to answer the charges.
Towanda woman charged with vandalizing vehicles in Towanda
Domino Marie Ross, 26, of Towanda and two juvenile girls are accused of using keys or other sharp objects to scratch 12 to 14 vehicles parked on North Main Street in Towanda, police said.
Ross was charged with criminal mischief as a third-degree felony, because the damage was over $5,000, Towanda Borough police said.
"Some of the vehicles had extensive damage, while others had a little less damage," said Officer David Lantz of the Towanda police.
The vandalism occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Aug. 19, police said.
Besides criminal mischief, Ross was also charged with the third-degree felony of criminal solicitation, because she solicited help from the juveniles in committing the crime, Lantz said.
In addition, Ross was charged with corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor, police said.
Charges are pending against the minors, police said.
Ross, who lives on North Main Street, is currently incarcerated at the Bradford County jail in lieu of $85,000 bail, police said.
Towanda woman charged with assault
Joleen Wilcox, 25, of Towanda is accused of striking a 30-year-old man in the head with a plastic "sippy" cup recently, which caused an injury that required medical attention, police said.
The incident occurred at 8:10 p.m. Monday at the Dandy Mini Mart on U.S. Route 6 in Wysox Township, police said.
As a result of this incident, Wilcox was charged with simple assault and harassment, state police said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the state police at Towanda at (570) 265-2186 and ask for Trooper Ben Bigus, police said.
Bicycles stolen in Wyalusing
Two bicycles were stolen recently from a location outside a business on Main Street in Wyalusing, police said.
The bicycles belong to the children of the woman who owns the business, police said. The theft occurred between 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Monday, according to the state police at Towanda.
