On Nov. 3, 1900, the first major U.S. automobile show opened at New York's Madison Square Garden under the auspices of the Automobile Club of America.

25 years ago - 1984

Waverly won 60-21 against Sayre in football, giving them at least a share of the NTL football championship with Athens.

Members of the League of Women's Voters will be compiling results of this year's general election in Bradford County for distribution to the news media.

Thirty of the county's 61 voting precincts will be using new A.V.M. electronic voting systems on Election Day.

50 years ago - 1959

It was ordered by Judge James W. Cullen late yesterday that New Albany Borough's ballots that are to be used in today's election need to be reprinted, since the name of the Republican nominee for Justice of Peace in New Albany, Harry W. Biddle, was omitted from the ballots.

A simulated search and rescue mission will be staged on Armenia Mountain by Group 40 of the Civil Air Patrol.

A "tricks or treats" for UNICEF project in Towanda netted $276.76.

75 years ago - 1934

Hygrade Ribbon Mills Inc. of Peterson, N.J., bought the Towanda Silk Mill on Plank Road St. from J.E. Meredith.

Miss Dorothy Ransom was elected president of the Towanda division of the Susquehanna Valley Undergraduate Center.

At Dushore's first public Halloween party, first prize was awarded to the pupils of Miss Holcombe's room, of the Dushore school. The students dressed to represent a bridal party.
