Jazz night at the Sayre Public Library

The community is invited to attend a free jazz concert at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Sayre Public Library.
Step back into the 1930s and hear the musical sounds of yesteryear. Rick Pedro, a nationally known performer, will play jazz, ragtime and dixieland music. Many years ago, he became enamored with Scott Joplin's genre and began to develop his own unique style. It has been said that his music is a one-of-a-kind blend of jazz and ragtime music, a bonding as natural as baseball and apple pie and as flavorful as peanut butter and chocolate. The audience is guaranteed to have their toes tapping and their hands clapping throughout the evening.
The jazz concert is in conjunction with the Big Read, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. Through Dec. 15, the community is celebrating the Big Read, learning more about life during the Great Depression and reading John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" with a full calendar of events. The community is reminded to stop in the library to pick up a free copy of the reader's guide, schedule and book.
The Sayre Public Library has been providing outstanding service to Sayre Borough since 1936.
