Valley Energy recognized employees for years of service and outstanding service to the company and its customers during the utility’s annual awards breakfast last month.

Following a breakfast prepared by the utility’s management team, Valley Energy President and Chief Executive Officer Edward Rogers presented the company’s 2018 Employee of the Year Award to customer representative Kathleen McCutcheon of Sayre.

McCutcheon was presented with a plaque and praised by Rogers for her commitment to excellent customer care.

“As Valley Energy’s Employee of the Year recipient, Kathy exemplifies Valley’s cultural statement, ‘Service Excellence,’” Rogers said. “She contributes to the success of the company by providing the highest degree of customer service.”

The awards breakfast also featured the presentation of an award highlighting an employee who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to safety. Rogers named Valley Energy crew leader Tony Peterson of Binghamton as the company’s Excellence in Safety Award winner for 2018.

In presenting the award, Rogers cited Peterson’s “enthusiastic leadership in approaching each day safely” and thanked him for his contributions and commitment to the company’s safety committee.

Employees who achieved years-of-service milestones in 2018 were also honored during the awards breakfast. Those recognized were Mike Hawley, 40 years; Ed Rogers, 30 years; and Derek Williamson, 5 years.

Valley Energy provides natural gas service to nearly 9,000 customers in the Sayre, Athens, Towanda and Monroeton areas in Pennsylvania and the Waverly and Chemung areas of New York state.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of C&T Enterprises. C&T Enterprises is jointly owned by Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, based in Wysox, and Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Mansfield. The parent cooperatives provide electricity to more than 36,000 consumers in north-central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
