WATS-WAVR to have new owners

People gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony outside of the Choice 102 station on Keystone Avenue in Sayre on Tuesday morning. David and Irene Radigan of Radigan Broadcasting, LLC cut the ribbon, marking their start at the WATS-WAVR stations. The new owners bought the stations from Chuck Carver, who has worked at “the Choice” and other local radio stations for 44 years. He is set to retire after a long and successful career and spend more time with his family. “We have very similar philosophies and the way they run the station in Owego is admirable,” Carver said at the ribbon cutting, “I think we’ve tried to be a good asset for our community here and we mirror each other in so many ways. I feel fortunate today to turn the business over to two committed, proven community broadcasters.” The Radigans will continue to run their WEBO at its current location on North Avenue in Owego as they take on the WATS-WAVR stations in Sayre and Waverly. “Local radio and serving the community is what we’re all about. Being the owners and operators of radio stations in town and not far away is so important to us. I wish I could come up with as great ideas as ‘Scholarship Challenge’ and ‘Christmas is for kids’ but I am proud that we will take on those programs and keep doing them here,” David Radigan said in his speech.
