At 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, on Chemung Street in the Village of Waverly, New York, officers from the Waverly Police Department arrested the following five individuals for drug related crimes.

As a result of a traffic stop, the below named defendants face the following criminal charges.

Chaz J. Talada, age 21, of Millerton, driver of the stopped vehicle, was arrested on a bench warrant from the New York State Police Horseheads, New York, for a previous criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree arrest. Talada was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (two counts), criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, criminal use of drug paraphernalia second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree (all misdemeanor charges). Talada was released to NYSP Horseheads, New York, for further legal action.

Bryan D. Talada, age 25, of Millerton, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, criminal use of drug paraphernalia second degree and possession of hypodermic instrument (all misdemeanor charges). Bryan Talada was released on appearance ticket.

Josh M. Chapman, age 26, of Waverly, New York, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal use of drug paraphernalia second degree (all misdemeanor charges). Chapman was released on appearance ticket.

Katelyn A. Rowe, age 26, of Sayre, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, possession of a hypodermic instrument , and criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd (all misdemeanor charges). Rowe was released on an appearance ticket.

Waverly Police also arrested a Jared D. Jayne, age 23, of Gillett, for misdemeanor criminal impersonation in the second degree, following Jayne attempting to use a false name to avoid arrest. Jayne was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal use of drug paraphernalia second degree (all misdemeanor charges). Jayne was wanted by Bradford County authorities for a trespassing offense.

Jayne was arraigned in the Village of Waverly, New York, Justice Court and was sent to the Tioga County, New York jail to await further legal action. Bail amount was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 property.

Items commonly used for packing illegal drugs, a drug kit, a 100 mg morphine sulfate tablet, a hypodermic instrument (needle) charged with the drug methamphetamine and several glass smoking devices were found in the vehicle during the arrest.

Waverly Police were assisted by NYSP Owego, Sayre Police Department, Athens Township Police Department and Athens Borough Police Department during this arrest.
