North Towanda breaks in new fire truck

The North Towanda Volunteer Fire Company unveiled their newly purchased fire truck to the public at the North Towanda Fire Hall on Wednesday evening. The 2020 Kenworth T440 Tanker manufactured by Sutphen will be replacing a 1996 Freightline Tanker that North Towanda Fire Chief Gerald Sheets said needed to be replaced due to wear and tear sustained for the past 20 years. The new truck offers a 2,000 gallon tank and a 1,000 gallon per minute pump, upgrades that will allow the fire company to haul more water and disperse it at faster rates than previous vehicles.
