Responders, officials learn well site response safety

The Bradford County Department of Public Safety has scheduled a second well site responder safety course after an overwhelming response to an event held Saturday at the Canton Fire Department Social Hall. Instructors from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy presented information about the natural gas industry and its unique challenges, on-site hazards, and potential incident responses and equipment needed. The course was designed to educate firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, municipal officials, local emergency management coordinators, and oil and gas operators about their roles in a natural gas well incident response. Saturday’s class welcomed a maximum 50 participants. The second class will be held on March 14 at the Wyalusing Fire Department. Participants are required to pre-register, and can do so by visiting www.bcfiretraining.com or by calling (570) 265-5022.
