SHS Environmental Club shows off butterfly garden

Sayre High School Environmental Club members (from left) Emily Pardoe, Aimee Bailey, Paige Gumaer and Katie Moreno gave a presentation about their new butterfly garden to the school board Monday. The garden is located near the Guthrie Community Garden along North Elmer Avenue and is filled with vegetation to attract butterflies, which then can help the surrounding environment with pest control and pollination. The project was largely funded through a Walmart grant. Six cocoons ended up maturing on the site, although one of the butterflies has passed away.
