ULSTER TOWNSHIP — The 17-year-old male that was killed in a mini bike accident on Mountain Road in Ulster Township on Tuesday, June 25 has been identified. According to Bradford County Coroner Tom Carman, the deceased teenager is Daniel McDowell of Medford, New Jersey.

Carman told the Review that McDowell was killed by blunt force trauma to the head in the single vehicle accident. According to a police report after the incident, the crash occurred on Mountain Road, an unmarked two lane dirt road that runs downhill on a curve in Ulster Township near Route 220. Police said that the vehicle under compensated for the turn, left the roadway and struck a tree. The operator of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by Carman at 8:21 p.m.

McDowell was wearing a bicycle helmet according to Carman but the death was considered to be immediate following the impact.

A person that was with McDowell made the call to emergency services after the wreck.

Carman also said the tires on the mini bike were over inflated and that that may have had an effect on the traction the tires could get on the dirt road.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. according to the police report.
