District Attorney Daniel J. Barrett reported the following recent criminal case resolutions in the Bradford County Court of Common Pleas, Towanda, Pennsylvania:

SENTENCED

Kenneth Sottung, 67, of Ulster, was sentenced to State Intermediate Punishment for 24 months, fines of $4000.00, for the offenses of two counts of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, misdemeanors of the first degree. State Intermediate Punishment is a two-year program run by the Department of Corrections. It begins with at least seven months of regular state prison. If approved, the inmate will then be placed in a drug/alcohol addiction center, followed by restricted living in a residential program. The third part is outpatient treatment and supervised placement in the community under drug and alcohol testing and monitoring. The Department of Corrections must be satisfied that the prisoner has made progress in rehabilitation from substance abuse. If not, the prisoner will be dismissed from the program and resentenced. Officer Jason Serfas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Sottung for the offense occurring on April 27, 2018. And Trooper Blade Bernosky of the Pennsylvania State Police Department arrested Sottung following investigation of an incident that occurred on Route 220 on Feb. 23, 2018.

Amanda Hammer, 28, of Sayre, was sentenced to Probation Supervision for a term of six months, fines of $500.00, restitution of $1,848.15, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Officer Nikki Hoffman of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Hammer for the offense occurring on May 2, 2018.

Charles Collins, 72, of Waverly, New York, was sentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for four days to six months, fines of $500.00, plus court costs, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Officer Nate Ross of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Collins for the offense occurring on May 21, 2018.

Brian Luke, 28, of Troy, was sentenced to incarceration in a Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility for five years to 15 years, for the offenses of Indecent Exposure, a misdemeanor of the second degree, two counts of Terroristic Threats, one a misdemeanor and the other, a felony, Stalking, a felony offense, Harassment, a misdemeanor of the third degree and False Reports, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Trooper Nate Lewis and Trooper Justin Millard both of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Luke following investigation of incidents that occurred in various locations on Aug. 20, 2018 and Dec. 13, 2018.

Jeffrey Gilbert, 29, of Mainesburg, was sentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for seven days to six months, fines of $500.00, restitution of $140.00, additional license suspension of 12 months will be imposed for refusal to submit to testing when arrested, for the offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Trooper Luke Geiger of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Gilbert following investigation of an incident that occurred on route 414 and route 220 on July 22, 2018.

Justin Kipling, 34, of Sayre, was sentenced to incarceration of the Bradford County Correctional Facility of three months to 12 months, fines of $150.00, for the offenses of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, also a misdemeanor. Officer Nate Ross of the Sayre Borough Police arrested Kipling for the offenses occurring on Nov. 21, 2017.

Eric Westerfer, 39, of Sayre, was sentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for two months to 232 days, fines of $250.00, for the offense of Criminal Trespass, a felony of the third degree. Officer Jeremy Horton of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Westerfer for the offenses occurring on Feb. 23, 2017.

Kristie Kendall, 29, of LeRoy, was sentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 28 days to 18 months, fines of $250.00, for the offense of Endangering the Welfare of Children, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Kendall had been sentenced to probation but failed to comply with the conditions. Probation was revoked and the case was set for resentencing. Trooper Keith Herbert of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Kendall following investigation of an incident that occurred on Granville Township on Sept. 12, 2017.

Shawna Bennett, 27, Monroeton, was resentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 40 days to 18 months, fines of $750.00, restitution of $3,300.00, for the offense of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Bennett had been sentenced to probation but failed to comply with the conditions. Probation was revoked and the case was set for resentencing. Trooper Taylor Smith of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Bennett following investigation of the incident that occurred in Monroe Borough on Dec. 7, 2017.

Barbara Heasley, 58, of Ulster, was sentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for seven days to six months, fines of $500.00, additional license suspension of 12 months will be imposed for refusal to submit to testing when arrested, for the offenses of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor. Trooper Justin Millard of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heasley following investigation of an incident that occurred in Ulster Township on Aug. 5, 2018.

Montana Wickwire, 29, Towanda, was sentenced to incarceration in the Bradford County Correctional Facility for 90 days flat for one case and one day to 12 months on the other case, fines of $100.00, for the offense of Possession of Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor. Officer Christopher Warren of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Wickwire for the offense occurred in Troy Township on July 3, 2018. Trooper Gregory Pimm of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Wickwire following investigation of an incident that occurred in Troy Township on July 3, 2018.

GUILTY PLEAS

Kenneth Raymond, 34, Towanda, entered a plea of guilty to the offenses of Theft by Deception, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and Corruption of Minors, also a misdemeanor of the first degree. Raymond will be sentenced on June 17, 2018, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department Trooper Joshua Bednarski and Trooper Michael Tracy both of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Raymond following investigation of incidents that occurred in Burlington Township and Towanda Township on July 3, 2018 and July 20, 2018.

James Parkhurst, 51, Towanda, entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Corruption of Minors, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Parkhurst will be sentenced on June 22, 2019, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Miranda Musick of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Parkhurst following investigation of an incident that occurred in Sheshequin Township on Nov. 1, 2018.

Zachary Akins, 22, Elmira, New York, entered a plea of guilty to the offense of Corruption of Minors, a misdemeanor of the first degree. Akins will be sentenced on June 17, 2019, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Akins following investigation of incidents that occurred in Sayre Borough between Sept. 20, 2018 and Dec. 20, 2018.

Ryan Taylor, 31, Athens, entered a plea of guilty to the offenses of two counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a felony of the third degree and a misdemeanor of the first degree. Taylor will be sentenced on June 17, 2019, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department Sergeant Bruce Hoffman and Officer Steven Burlingame both of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Taylor for the offenses on Feb. 3, 2017 and Dec. 8, 2018.

Charles Miller, 23, Hop Bottom, entered a plea of guilty to the offenses of five counts of Forgery, felonies of the third degree. Miller will be sentenced on a later date, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Trooper Joshua Fisher of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested Miller following investigation of the incidents that occurred in Laceyville Borough on Oct. 13, 2017.

Elvis Chavez, 27, Sayre, entered a plea of guilty to the offenses of Simple Assault, a misdemeanor of the second degree and Disorderly Conduct, a misdemeanor of the third degree. Chavez will be sentenced on June 17, 2019, following preparation of a presentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. Officer Jason Serfas of the Athens Township Police Department arrested Chavez for the offenses on Jan. 21, 2019.

NOLO CONTENDERE

Jeffrey Heckman, 43, Sayre, entered a plea of nolo contendere/no contest to, Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Heckman will be sentenced on June 17, 2019, following preparation of a pre-sentence report by the Bradford County Probation Department. A no-contest plea is entered where the defendant cannot recall the event but will be held guilty and sentenced. Officer Derek Watkins of the Sayre Borough Police Department arrested Heckman for the offense in Sayre Borough on Dec. 16, 2018.

ARD

Bradley McNett, 21, of Canton, charged with the offense of Sale or Transfer of Firearm, was accepted into the ARD Program and placed on probation for a term of six months. While on probation McNett will be subject to supervision by the Bradford County Probation Department which supervision will include monitoring for drug or alcohol use. Trooper Robert Borkowski of the Pennsylvania State Police arrested McNett for an offense on Nov. 29, 2018 in Monroe Borough.
