Athens simple assault
Branden Westbrook, 37, of Athens is facing charges of misdemeanor simple assault in the second degree and summary violation harassment following an incident on Willow Street in Athens on May 19.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Athens Borough police were dispatched to the residence for a reported domestic. Westbrook was accused of punching the victim in the face repeatedly and kicking the victim in the back. The victim had blood on their face, their nose was red and swollen, and a red area was present on their back. Westbrook admitted to hitting the victim because the victim was drunk.
Westbrook has a preliminary hearing on May 28 with Magisterial District Judge Larry Hurley.
Sayre drug possession
Thomas Anderson, 37, of Ulster is facing drug related charges following an incident on South Keystone Avenue in Sayre on May 19.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Sayre Borough police received a call about a man “shooting up” drugs in the parking lot of a South Keystone Avenue business. Police found Anderson in the vehicle that the caller listed and found Anderson to be acting as though he was under the influence of a controlled substance. Anderson was placed under arrest and a search of the car resulted in the finding of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Methamphetamine was also found on Anderson’s person in a pack of cigarettes.
Anderson is facing charges of misdemeanor intentional possession of controlled substance by per not regulation, misdemeanor use/possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and summary violation public drunkenness and similar misconduct.
Anderson is in the Bradford County Correctional Facility on $35,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing on May 28 with Magisterial District Judge Larry Hurley.
Default in required appearance
Roger Shedden, 56, of Troy is facing a charge of felony default in required appearance following an incident on Jan. 3 in Towanda.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Shedden was convicted by jury for offenses such as felony corruption of minors in the third degree on Oct. 11 of 2018. Shedden was ordered to appear for sentencing on Jan. 3 and bail was set at $20,000 unsecured. Shedden did not appear for his court date and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shedden was confined on May 20 in the Bradford County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail. Shedden has a preliminary hearing on May 29 with Magisterial District Judge Todd Carr.
Rome simple assault
Nickolas Staats, 39, of Rome is facing charges of misdemeanor simple assault in the second degree and summary violation harassment following an incident in Rome on May 20 and May 21.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Pennsylvania State Police interviewed the victim who stated that Staats had physically harmed the victim the night of May 20 and the morning of May 21. Staats is accused of jumping on top of the victim, hitting the victim in the face multiple times and pouring a hot cup of coffee on her.
Staats is in the Bradford County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing on June 4 with Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton.
