Alice A. Dunbar, 82, of Canton passed away, early Wednesday morning, June 5, at the Bradford County Manor, in Troy. Alice Anna was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Troy, to the late Arch and Anna (Greenway) Woodward. She attended Troy High School and was a graduate of the class of 1955. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Lewis D. Dunbar, he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2008 following nearly 49 years of marriage. Alice loved the “Duke” and watched every John Wayne movie. She enjoyed crocheting, and listening to 50’s and 60’s country music. She was an animal lover and adored her dogs and cats. Alice’s biggest enjoyment in life were her grandsons always looking forward to times spent with them.

Besides her parents and husband, Lewis Sr., she was predeceased by her brothers, Lee, Jack and Ronnie Woodward and a sister, Ida Morgriege. She is survived by her children, Lewis Dunbar Jr., Penny Dunbar and Janet Dunbar all of Canton; two grandsons, Johnathan Gilliland, Kip Buchanan; a great-granddaughter, Arica Gilliland; sisters, Ruth Woodward of Pittsburgh, Doris Fisher of Hazelton; sisters-in-law, Lizzie Bardo of Alba, Phyllis Woodward of North Carolina; special nieces and nephews, Pam Kelley, Bill Matthews, Faron “Pudge” Matthews and Susan Lyons; her canine companion, Baby Joy, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Alice’s wishes, there will be no services. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
