Bonnie L. Vanderpool, 71, of 1384 Sheshequin Road, Towanda, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of July 10, 2019 at her childhood homestead in Towanda Township.

Bonnie was born in Towanda on July 24, 1947, the daughter of Cleveland A. Vanderpool Jr. and Josephine Z. Benjamin Vanderpool. She was a graduate of Towanda High School with the Class of 1965.

Upon graduation, Bonnie joined the staff of Osram-Sylvania in Towanda where she was employed for 35 years until retirement. Bonnie possessed a great zest for life and it showed. She enjoyed traveling extensively, spending time with her family, friends, and in nature, playing board games (especially marbles), watching detective shows, crafting, giving her time to help others, and was actively engaged in her church where she attended and worshiped. Bonnie had a special love and connection with animals (both wild and domesticated), having various pets throughout her life including horses, birds, cats and dogs especially her most recent canine child “Peanut” who will miss her deeply. Bonnie had a special love for children. Having no biological children of her own, she became affectionately known as “Aunt Bonnie” to countless children and adults locally showing her love and support any way she could.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Fred “Juney” Vanderpool; her sons, Fred Vanderpool and his daughter, Cassie Vanderpool, Uriah Vanderpool and wife, Fawn of Towanda; sister, Nancy Crane of Towanda; nephews, Bret Vanderpool and wife, Julie of Wysox, Bradley Crane and wife, Mandy of Towanda; nieces, Teri “T.J.” Shaw and husband, Brooks of Wyalusing, Kimberly Sandor and husband, Thomas of Wyalusing, Ronda J. Bouse, Aaron J. Signore of Ulster, Holly R. Bouse of Towanda; as well as several great nieces and great nephews. Bonnie was predeceased by her father, Cleveland A. Vanderpool Jr. on March 28, 1976; mother, Josephine Z. Benjamin Vanderpool on March 2, 2006; brother, Terry A. Vanderpool on April 1, 2018; and brother-in-law, Larry D. Crane on April 1, 2003.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. at the Victory Church, Troy, with Pastor Josh Payne officiating. Interment will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to a charity or organization of one’s choice in memory of Bonnie.
