Mrs. Joan R. Heath, age 83, of Mildred, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2018, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Joan was born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Moxie, at her grandparents’ home. She was a daughter of the late Carl and Thelma Carpenter Philippi. She graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School a member of the class of 1952. She married George Franklin Heath on June 25, 1955, and they enjoyed almost 55 years of marriage before his passing on May 13, 2010.

She worked at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co., in Mildred, Pennsylvania, for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom and house wife. She also helped run the family business, Heath Refuse and Recycling Service alongside her husband and children for 40-plus years.

She enjoyed flowers and birds, especially hummingbirds. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her son, George C. Heath of Mildred, Pennsylvania; five daughters, Roxanne Heath and partner Francis Colegrove of Wilmot, Pennsylvania, Lynne (Stephen) Lewis of Mildred, Pennsylvania, Beth Burt of Mildred, Pennsylvania, Pamela (Chuck) Lewis of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Colleen (John) McBride of Mildred, Pennsylvania; sisters, Patricia (Jim) Byers of Southampton, Pennsylvania, Sally Matlock (Tony Grippo) of Zephyrhills, Florida and New Albany, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Jessica and Matt Petersen, Nikki and Will Marchant, Allen and Robyn McBride, Brandy McBride and Justin Stoothoff, James McBride, Daniel Lewis, Matthew Colegrove; five great-grandchildren, Harper Petersen, Calvin Petersen, Kaiah McBride, Baylor McBride, Payton McBride; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Heath of Colley, Pennsylvania.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Strope; sister-in-law, Jeanie Heath; and a brother-in-law, John Heath.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pennsylvania, with her pastor, the Rev. Phyllis A. Pelletier, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Dushore, Pennsylvania.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pennsylvania.
