Athens scored eight runs in the first but Jersey Shore crossed home in every inning as they chipped away for a 13-10 in Section III 9-10 All-Star baseball action Saturday.

Athens led 8-2 after the first inning but Jersey Shore out scored them 11-2 the rest of the way to get the win.

The two play today in a winner take all contest.

Eli Hicks (3-for-4) led Athens at the plate, knocking in three runs and scoring twice.

Connor Davidson (2-for-3) added a double with a run scored and an RBI.

Kam Wheeler, Sam Cheresnowsky, Cartyr Cockcroft and Brycen Wood also had hits. Wheeler drew three walks with a run and an RBI, Cheresnowsky scored twice and had an RBI, Cockcroft knocked in two runs with a run scored while Wood crossed home and added an RBI.

Alex McQuay and Graham Wanck also scored runs.

Duncan Thetga started and went the first three innings, striking out four with two walks, five hits and nine runs, two of them earned.

Wanck pitched the next 2 1/3-innings and scores the loss. he struck out two with four hits, three walks and four runs, one of which was earned.

Hicks pitched the final two-thirds, getting the two outs on six pitches.
