MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Destroyers scored two runs in the seventh and two in the ninth, but their rally came up short in a 7-4 loss to the Hornell Dodgers in New York Collegiate Baseball League action.
A trio of area standouts started for Mansfield in the game.
Matt Williams of Sayre was 1-for-3 in the game. The St. Bonaventure player also walked once in the game.
Tioga’s Pierce Hendershot, who will also play for the Bonnies next year, drew a walk and scored a run in the game. Hendershot also had a sacrifice fly in the game.
Former Mansfield standout Kipp Hillson scored a run in the game as well.
Grant Vera had a 3-for-5 day with four RBI to lead Mansfield. He had a double in the game.
Nicholas Wimmers had a pair of doubles, an RBI and scored two runs for Hornell.
Andrew Littlefield of Hornell hurled six innings of four-hit ball with two strikeouts in the win. Kyle Music struck out four in four innings as the Mansfield starter.
