It was the Montgomery run game against the Sayre pass game on Friday, and in the end Montgomery came out on top in a 26-12 win.

Montgomery ran for 488 yards in the game, with Hunter Budman gaining 331 yards and three scores on 26 carries. Rhyle Strausbaugh ran for 123 yards and a score on 12 carries.

Sayre’s Corbin Brown threw for 220 yards and two scores on 14-of-26 passing. Gage Carnrike had six grabs for 159 yards and a score.

Budman started things at 6:16 of the first quarter on a 67-yard run and Budman followed that up with a 79-yard run at 9:04 of the second quarter with Strausbaugh hitting extra points on both.

Carnrike had a 50-yard touchdown from Brown at 9:49 of the third quarter, and the extra point was blocked.

Strausbaugh made it 20-6 as he scored on a 16-yard run and the kick failed with 18 seconds left in the half.

Budman had another 79-yard touchdown with 5:25 left in the game and the kick was blocked and Pat Casterline of Sayre scored on a six-yard run with 3:49 left and the two-point try failed.

Ethan Miller had two catches for 23 yards for Sayre and Isaiah Firestine had two catches for 26 yards and he ran six times for 14 yards, while Nathan Garrity ran 11 times for 43 yards.
