WESTFIELD -- The Northeast Bradford softball team captured the NTL, Division II title with a 10-2 win over CV on Wednesday.

“I am really proud of the girls,” coach Gary Hennip said. “It’s really a new team and we have had some ups and downs, but I think we have improved as the year’s gone on. We hope to keep going as we move on into the playoffs.”

Lindsay Moore threw a five-hitter, striking out four in the win.

Jordan Shumway, McKenzie Haight and Jennah Hansen all had two hits for NEB. Haight had two doubles. Hansen had an RBI and scored two runs, Haight had an RBI and Shumway had two RBI and a run scored.

Moore, Jaycee Brown and Mckenna Hurley all had doubles. Moore scored two runs, Hurley had a run and an RBI and Brown scored a run. Morgan Post had a hit, an RBI and a run scored and Chloe Baker and Taya Howell each scored runs, with Howell getting two RBI.

Brynn Williams had two hits for CV and Emma McClaren, Madi Lee and Karmen Short had hits. Lee scored a run and McClaren had a run and an RBI.

Makayla Vargeson struck out two on the mound.

NPL 13, CV 4

Savannah Doney struck out 12 and gave up four hits as NPL improved to 12-4 in their win against CV in NTL softball action Wednesday.

NPL secured the win in the seventh inning, scoring nine runs. Mariah Kshir had four hits on the day. Those four hits included a triple and a double, and she also collected two RBI. McKenzie Heater had a hit and four RBI, Delaney Colton had three hits, one of which was a double, and two RBI. Doney chipped in with a double on the offensive side of the game. Brooke Harvey added three hits, one of those was a double, and Abby Heatley had a hit and an RBI. Emma Willaims and Ryley Kotulka each cellected singles in the win.

Madi Lee led CV with two hits, one of which was a triple, and two RBI. Karmen Short nabbed a single and an RBI, while Riley Ortt added a hit to finish things off for CV.

Ashleigh Southart took the mound for the Indians.


CV 4, NEB 3

Seth Sherman’s two RBI and run scored in the fourth innning helped CV edge out a narrow win over NEB in NTL baseball action.

CV added another run in the fifth inning from a Seth Huyler RBI that allowed Christian Kemp to score, taking CV just out of the reach of the Panthers.

Sherman finished the game with a total of two hits to accompany the two RBI and run scored. Kurtis Easton finished with two hits, one of which was a double, and a run scored, while Huyler added a single and a run scored to his run scored. Kemp finished with two hits and a run scored, and Dustin VanZile recorded an RBI.

NEB’s Tyler Devonshire and Nick Vrabel were able to notch a single and a double each in the loss, with Devonshire also added a run scored. Clayton Connor, Grant Allis and Braeden Frisbie each hit singles for the Panthers. Frisbie added a run scored, and Ian Wilbur also scored a run.

Easton started on the mound for CV, throwing for 6.2 innings and racking up seven strikeouts. Huyler finshed off the game, striking out the only batter he faced.

Ian Wilbur went the distance for NEB, striking out five batters in the process.
