The RTL Majors baseball team is headed to the finals after a 6-5 win over Southern Tioga in 8 innings.

RTL will play a game on Sunday against whoever comes out of the loser’s bracket. RTL needs one win to claim the title, the other team would need two wins.

Hunter House struck out eight for RTL and Kenny Mapes had 10 strikeouts in relief.

Iaac Shaffer had two hits and scored three runs in the game and Mapes had two hits, with a double, and scored three runs as the two combined for all six runs.

Tacoma Vanderpool, James Rogan and Jake Bankes had hits for RTL.

The game was tied at four going to the eighth inning. RTL scored two runs in the eighth and Southern Tioga answered with one, but their rally came up short with the tying run on third as Mapes struck out the last two batters of the game.

Cooper Shaw started for Southern Tioga. Alex Davis scored two runs and Cody Wagner and Shaw each scored runs.

Andy Hermansen had a pair of hits, with a double, and Liam Shaut had a double, while Lucas Moore had a hit and Riley Oakes scored a run.

Southern Tioga 10, Towanda 2

Southern Tioga pitcher Haley Litzelman threw a two hitter, striking out 16 as Southern Tioga forced a deciding game for the district title.

The final will be 5:30 p.m. Friday at Smythe Park in Mansfield.

Litzelman also had a three hits day, with a double and two runs scored.

Elaina Shaw scored three runs for Southern Tioga and Kameron Lightner had a hit and scored a pair of runs.

Claire Dominick scored two runs and Kendall Graham scored a run in the game.

Payton Perry and Kaya Johnson each had a hit and scored a run for Towanda in the game.

Bryn Vargason and Johnson pitched for Towanda.
