CANDOR, N.Y. — The Tioga Central Tigers came from behind in thrilling fashion by scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning and defeated the Candor Central Indians 7-5 in a Sectionals Quarterfinals game at Candor High School. Kendra Wessel took the win and Anna Greeno took the loss.

Tioga scored it’s first run in the top of the first when Kendra Wessel doubled and Giovanni Rossi singled her home to make it 1-0. Candor responded in the bottom of the first with a home run by Addie Aman that made it 1-1 In the top of the third Kayla Webb reached on an error, Webb was bunted over to second base.

Webb was then safe at third by on an obstruction call when Candor tried to throw her out on a force out. Webb then, came home on a double by Rossi to make it 2-1. Candor made it 2-2 in the bottom of the third when Aman singled and stole second, Jennah Kareem reached on a pop fly error which brought Aman home. Candor took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth When Aryan Peters walked, stole second, reached third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch.

Candor made it 4-2 on a double by Asia Curkendall and Anna Greeno singled her home. Tioga began their rally in the top of the seventh when Webb walked, Olivia Ayres singled, Webb singled to score a run, Rossi tripled to drive in two runs after a pitching change, then came two walks, Shana Franks singled to drive in a run, then came another pitching change, then Kim Tarbox drove in a run with a force out that made it 7-4.

Candor scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on a walk, force-out and a single by Shelby Swartz that made it 7-5, then Tioga got the final out on a fly out.

Tioga Central Coach Heather Klossner was proud of the way her team came back and stated it is not over until it is over. She was happy about how her battery worked well together. She was happy with how her team was able to keep their heads on their shoulders after making a few miscues. The coach also said she is looking forward to the next opponent on Thursday which will be Harpursville who defeated Notre Dame 7-2.
