EAST TROY — Troy defeated Susquehanna County 15-0 in three innings on Friday in Majors Softball action.

They were crowned District 15 champions after the game and finished pool play undefeated.

Lauren Ridall had the big bat, going 3-for-3 with a home run and a double, while Kali Ayres and Amber James both went 2-for-2. James crossed home three times with Ayres scoring twice.

Libby Cory added a hit with a run scored as Addie Smith scored three times and Marlee Stanton twice. Madelyn Seeley chipped in with a hit.

Smith tossed a perfect game, with five strikeouts, from the circle.

Troy will now move on to Sectional play at Danville beginning on July 2. They face the District 24 champion with a 5:30 p.m. start.

Athens 7, Sayre 6

In 9-10 All-Star baseball action Athens won in walk-off fashion, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to get the win.

Athens led 5-2 when Sayre scored three runs in the top of the sixth to send it to extra innings.

In the top of the seventh Sayre scored a run but in the bottom half Athens notched two to get the win.

Sam Cheresnowsky (2-for-5) and Duncan Thetga (2-for-2) had multi-hit games for Athens.

One of Cheresnowsky’s hits was a double to go with a run scored and an RBI. Thetga knocked in a run as well.

Connor Davidson had a triple with a run scored while Peter Bertsch had a double with two runs and an RBI.

Kamdyn Wheeler and Carter Cockcroft also had hits. Wheeler scored twice while Cockcroft had an RBI.

Brycen Wood chipped in with a run scored.

Davidson started for Athens, going two innings to strikeout five while allowing two hits, one walk and two unearned runs.

Thetga went the next 1 1/3-innings, striking out three with two walks.

Wheeler pitched 2 2/3-innings, striking out five with three walks, two hits and three runs, one of which was earned.

Cockcroft pitched the seventh and got the win, striking out one with one walk, one hit and one earned run.
